Trade serviceRepatriation services for funeral homes
The family wishes for a burial in the home country, or a client has died abroad? You look after the family; we handle the repatriation across the border.
Rudolf Nordheimer and team – in German, Russian or English.

You remain the family's point of contact
Cross-border repatriations are rarely part of everyday work at a funeral home: different documents, consulates, airlines, a transfer coffin meeting international standards. That is exactly our everyday work.
We work in the background. The family remains your client, and you decide how to pass on our service.
- Collection from you or from the hospital, care home or forensic medicine institute
- Body passport, consulate, translations, apostille
- Transfer coffin with zinc liner, air transport crate for air freight
- Partner funeral directors in Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Poland and Serbia

Frequently asked questions
Your question isn’t here? Call us – we will answer right away.
All questionsDo you also work for other funeral homes?
Yes. As a trade service for funeral homes, we handle repatriation abroad or repatriation to Germany – including documents, consulate, transfer coffin and freight. The family remains your client, and you decide how to pass on our service.
How long does a coffin repatriation take?
The duration depends mainly on how quickly the documents are available: death certificate, body passport, releases and, where applicable, confirmation from the consulate. Within Europe, the coffin is on the road in the funeral transport vehicle for one to a few days, depending on the route. With air freight, flight connections also play a role. An example from our reviews: for a repatriation from Munich to Novosibirsk, the burial was possible on the fourth day. It is not always that quick – after our first conversation we will tell you what you can realistically expect.
Is a zinc-lined coffin required for repatriation abroad?
For cross-border repatriations, usually yes. The European Agreement on the Transfer of Corpses requires an impermeable coffin: a wooden coffin with a tightly soldered zinc liner, absorbent lining and, for air freight, a pressure-equalisation device with a filter. Airlines also only accept hermetically sealed coffins. We provide a transfer coffin that meets these requirements.
What is a body passport and who issues it?
The body passport (Leichenpass) is the official accompanying document for a deceased person being transferred across a national border. In Germany, it is issued by the local public order office at the place of death, in accordance with the funeral law of the respective federal state. Among other things, the medical certificate of death and the death certificate are required for it. A coffin coming to Germany from abroad must also be accompanied by a body passport or a comparable document. We apply for the body passport on your behalf.
Can you be reached at night, at weekends and on public holidays?
Yes. You can reach us 24/7 on +49 1511 7463888, also via WhatsApp. A death does not keep to office hours – that is why we take calls at night, at weekends and on public holidays too, and set the repatriation in motion straight away.
